Service Description
This course offers basic first aid and safety skills for youth 9-13 years old. Participants learn about being safe when they are without the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or trusted adult, both at home and in their communities. This training is based on Canadian Red Cross guidelines. Participant must be 9 (or turning 9) years of age or older (or in Grade 3). Course Content: *Importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself *Importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own *How to stay safe at home and within the community *How to prepare, recognize and respond to unexpected situations, (i.e. inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits) First Aid Content: Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911), recovery position, conscious choking (adult/child/alone), feeling unwell, asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound care (i.e. minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns). All participants will receive a Stay Safe! Workbook and a Completion Certificate. Course Duration: 5

Cancelation Policy
Cancellation/Refund/Rescheduling Policies: 1. You may cancel/reschedule your training date within 24 hours upon registration at no charge. 2. $25 admin fee will be charged for any course cancellation or rescheduling. 3. Full refund less admin fees with cancellation notice of seven business days (Mon-Fri) or more prior to course date. 4. 50% refund less admin fee with cancellation notice of less than seven business days (Mon-Fri). 5. No refunds will be provided if cancellation is done within the 24 hours before the course date/time. 6. If unable to attend the class on the registered course date, the registrant can apply the credit (less admin fee) to the total fee of any other class offered by LIFESAVER YEG. Registrant must provide three days notice when wanting to reschedule the course/training. No rescheduling will be accommodated for notice of less than three days. 7. If you do not show up for training or are late (once class has commenced) for training on the scheduled date, no refunds will be issued. Registrant will have to complete full payment to reschedule training for another available date. 8. No refunds will be issued for Blended BLS Training, Blended ACLS Training, and Virtual courses. 9. We do not cancel classes. However, a minimum number of registrants is required for some courses to be conducted. LIFESAVER YEG LTD. may cancel the class at their discretion. We will notify you as early as possible if this is the case, and we will try our level best to provide an alternate date that suits the participant.
