Frequently Asked Questions

Which First Aid CPR/AED course should I take? It depends on what your employer, school, or role requires. Emergency/Basic First Aid (EFA) covers essential first aid skills and is often chosen when a shorter course is accepted. Standard/Intermediate First Aid (SFA) includes more topics and is commonly requested for workplace compliance. If you are unsure, tell us the requirement you were given and we will help you match it to the right course.

How long do the courses take to complete? Course length depends on the course type and whether you choose blended learning. Blended learning splits the time between an online theory module and an in-person skills session, which can make scheduling easier. Renewals are typically shorter than full courses. The fastest way to confirm timing is to check the schedule for the specific course you want to take.

Do I need anything to get started? You just need to choose your course and register for a date that works for you. For blended courses, you will need an email address and internet access to complete the online module before the in-person session. Bring comfortable clothing for hands-on practice. If you are doing a renewal, have your previous certificate details ready so you can confirm eligibility.

I’m nervous about CPR. What if I mess up during practice? That is normal. Training is designed for learning, not for judging, and instructors walk you through the steps in a clear, practical way. Small classes help because you get more time to practise and ask questions. You will repeat the skills and get feedback so you feel more confident using CPR and an AED.

What’s the difference between blended learning and in-class training? Blended learning means you complete the explained theory online first, then come in for hands-on skills and scenarios. Many people prefer it because it reduces the amount of time spent in a classroom while keeping the practical part in person. In-class formats keep everything together in one schedule. The right choice comes down to your calendar and how you like to learn.

Are these certificates accepted by employers and schools? These courses are OHS approved and meet provincial requirements. Many employers and schools accept Canadian Red Cross and Heart & Stroke certifications for their respective training streams. If your workplace or program lists a specific provider or course name, share that requirement before you book so you can pick the correct option.
